Yun So Myeong

The LONG LOST FRIEND. Yun was my classmate in Teacher Education at the University of the Cordilleras in Baguio City, Philippines. We became friends for less two years, and it came to pass that he needs to go back in Korea for mandatory military service. Almost one year that we dont have any communications. It was a fate that the 15th International Rover Moot was held in Cheonan City which is near to Suwon City (his place). By God's will, we met and had a chance to walk around the city, exchanging stories... Kudos!

THE MAY 18TH UPRISING DEMOCRACY PARK

The Gwangju Democratization Movement refers to a popular uprising in the city of Gwangju, S. Korea from 18 - 27 May, 1980. During this period, citizens rose up against Chun Doo-Hwan's military dictatorship and took control of the city. In the course of the uprising, citizens took up arms to defend themselves, but were ultimately crushed by the South Korean Army. The event is sometimes called, simply 5.18 or 518. The Gwangju Democratization Movement has become a symbol of South Koreans' struggle against authoritarian regimes and their fight for democracy.
